Roslyn Gannis

Roslyn Gannis As an interpretive park ranger at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument in Washington, Roslyn Gannis utilizes the knowledge she gained in the recreation, parks and tourism resources program on a daily basis.

Her primary responsibilities include helping visitors make the most out of their trips by answering questions, leading hikes and presenting 20-minute programs.

Gannis always knew she wanted to be a park ranger and found her home at WVU and in the Davis College.

“I wanted to go into the field of park ranger from the get-go,” she said. “I wasn’t sure which major would be a better fit, but the faculty steered me in the right direction.”

For her, the RPTR program was the best program because it focuses more on public service and people management, allowing her to present the outdoors directly to the public.
